Steelers Trample Tampa, 38-13

The last time the Steelers traveled to Tampa Bay, it was for Super Bowl XLIII. Like two years ago, the Steelers won in a convincing matter beating the Buccaneers 38-13.

Thoughts on the game:

  • Josh Freeman may have had a rough game today, but you could see why Freeman most think the young QB will have a good career in Tampa.
  • Mike Williams is one talented receiver.....he looked great out there outside of his fumble.
  • Charlie Batch....you are just what that offense needed. A guy who could make the throw and put the ball where the receivers could actually catch it.
  • Steelers defense......once again showed why they are the best defense in the league. They may have not field day like they did in Tennessee. However, they got constant pressure on Freeman and forced a few turnovers.
  • Brett Keisel....congrats on your first pick six. You might be one of the most athletic big men in the NFL.....you looked like a LB on the return.
  • Another herculean effort by the DL.
  • To the Steelers OL, excellent job. Everyone just played well, with exceptional efforts by Pouncey, Legursky, and Adams. You kept Batch clean and created holes for Mendenhall and Redmen.

Steelers Resign Leftwich

After releasing Byron Leftwich early last week to make room for practice squad DL Steve McClendon, the exact opposite has been done. As expected, the Steelers resigned Leftwich at the expense McClendon.

The Steelers face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday. Leftwich may be relishing an opportunity to play against his former team from one season ago. Either he or Charlie Batch will be starting due the Dennis Dixon tearing his MCL which will sideline him for 3-5 weeks.

I will give an update on McClendon status tomorrow. If he clears waivers, the Steelers are also expected to resign the DL to the practice squad.
